One of my favorite movie quotes is from the workplace comedy Office Space. Peter says “Michael. I did nothing. I did absolutely nothing and it was everything I thought it could be.” I just returned from my vacation in Sea Isle, NJ. It may not have been the most active week. It was everything that... Earlier this week Daryl Hall announced that he would resume filming new episodes of Live From Daryl’s House in 2018. The award-winning show has been on hiatus since 2016. The series is a showcase for remarkable collaborations between the soul singer and guest artists. A look back at the best episodes of Live From Daryl’s House reveals how amazing the initial run of the series was.
After Tom Petty passed away last October, the Heartbreakers existence as an incredible band was unfortunately cut short. Anyone who attended their 40th Anniversary Tour could see that the band still wielded incredible musical ability, yet they were suddenly without their leader. Phoenixville’s Colonial Theatre hosted its annual Blobfest this weekend. The three-day event celebrated The Blob, a 1958 science-fiction movie that was created in the suburban Philadelphia area. It may be hard to believe, but 2018 is already halfway over. That means it is time to sit back and take stock of the greatest music that has been released this year. So far no record has separated itself as being the best of the year, but there have been a lot of great of LPs. Without being ranked in any order, here are the ten best albums of 2018 (so far).
Not every summer day should be spent cooped up inside with the closest possible air conditioning unit. Summer is a great time to have fun in the Delaware Valley. Here are some of the best indoor and outdoor options to take in music and movies in the Philadelphia area this summer:
It is the Fourth of July, a great day for Americans to grill hot dogs, watch a ballgame, and totally misuse Bruce Springsteen’s “Born In The U.S.A.” The 1984 song has been added to almost every Fourth of July playlist that I have ever listened to (particularly at fireworks displays). It should not be. “Born In The U.S.A.” has been around longer than I have been alive and yet it has been misrepresented as a patriotic song every Independence Day that I can remember.
June was my busiest month as a blogger yet. I worked with a few different writers and diversified the content that appears on this site. By the end of the month, I was glad that my blog had increased its traffic, but I was more pleased that I had expanded The Flat Circle's workload. Hopefully that has resulted in a better experience for readers.
